Southdale Center

CoBeck Construction completed work on an extensive, multi-phase renovation and development initiative at Southdale Center in Edina, Minnesota. The Southdale Retail Collection Project was a significant transformation. The project encompassed the construction of high-end retail space designed to accommodate luxury brands.

The Southdale Retail Collection Redevelopment project involved reconfiguring approximately 50,000 s.f. of existing tenant space to create new mall concourses with a raised clerestory, upscale finishes, and new retail tenants, including Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Tiffany & Co., and more. The project includes special lighting, two new canopies, landscaping, and wood benches set on radius concrete seat walls. CoBeck installed new clerestory structural steel and enclosed the new assembly during the December shopping season extending through the winter months.

There are several key design features in the new Retail Collection space, these include new pop-up clerestory concourses with back lit ceiling panels featuring a flowing design, radiused concrete seat wall with wood benches, and decorative site lighting. As well as two glass canopies at the new mall concourse entrances along the drive-up lane. CoBeck teamed up with JP2 Architects, TSA Engineers, and Bliss Fasman to design and deliver the canopies, which feature an innovative glass frit pattern, integrated lighting, and a unique curved steel structure.
